So often I read these words on the board today, I still
can't believe it. Mick Tucker, a piece of all our youth, is no
longer with us. ....Now I don't find the right words,
sorry.

Re: Mick Tucker
- Sad News.
Mick once said "We owe all our success to the kids who have
bought our records". And he was right. And Mick never EVER
forgot that. Unlike many "stars" who forget who put them where
they are, Mick was a breath of fresh air. Every time I ever spoke
to him, he never once looked disinterested, never once looked bored,
never gave me the impression that I was wasting his time. There
is a saying that says "It's nice to be important, but it's more
important to be nice", and that just about sums Mick up. Mick,
you were a brilliant drummer, but you were an even better human
being, and to me, that is even more important. Thanks for the
memories. Phil.

Re: Mick Tucker
- Sad News.
I think it's a fantastic testament to Mick as a person that 99% of
posters here are saying what a nice person Mick was off-stage.
In those rare moments when you meet your idol you carry what
they say and how they behave towards you forever. I can add to the
body of opinion that judges Mick as a 'great bloke'.
In
1985, in my one and only meeting with Mick, I spent four or five
hours before a gig in his company and found him to be a brilliant
raconteur- his stories were humourous, well-delivered and
interesting. He bought beers in turn and treated me as I was- a fan
with many years (and dollars) invested in his band.
As Phil
says Mick WAS a star but he never forgot those who helped him get
there.
Goodbye Mick.
Sympathy to his family and
friends.

Re: Mick Tucker
- Sad News.
My heart and love goes out to Mick's wife, daughter, family and
friends-Its at times like this that you realize what a person means
to people who love them.MICK and SWEET not only influenced my
life, but shaped the person I am today.I used to watch T.O.T.P. open
mouthed at the SWEET.I always loved all the Glitz and Glam costumes
they wore, but their songs used to capture my imagination like
nothing else. They always appeared at the cutting edge, and oozed
power and style.Mick was a great man,who will live in my heart
forever. It is very sad news when someone you love departs this
earth.I hope Mick's wife can take some pride at the way he touched
so many and was obviously so kind and loving to his fans.At the end
of the day,all anyone has is family and friends. Now is the time for
you,as I have done since being in a diabetic coma for four days a 1
year ago-Tell the people close to you what they really mean to
you.It was so rewarding for me to see my distant eldest brother
cry, cuddle and hug me.A love I thought I would never recieve from
him.None of us can be sure of the next life,or even how long we have
left in this one.My father only ever told me on his death bed that
he loved me,in 27 years. That from him was enough to wipe away all
the pain and hang ups I had about him.A moment I will always
cherish, and great comfort to me.Steve Priest and Andy Scott-I ask
you both to speak to each other on the phone-You are in the same
family-not for my sake,or SWEET fans sake, but for your own peace in
life-Its none of my business, just my own personal thoughts I am
sharing with all people who loved MICK TUCKER-Just maybe Mick and
Brian would be happy for that to happen.Us The fans will always love
the SWEET no matter what. The man with the golden arm will be
forever missed-but never forgotten-It is much better to have loved
and lost, than never to have loved at all. I hope and I pray that
all SWEET fans will unite and support Andy Scotts SWEET and B.C.
SWEET they are as close to the original SWEET as anyone-In 20 or so
years time, which isn't long, maybe neither of these bands will be
around.I also hope that Andy and Steve will share fond memories with
each other-before its too late. After all,all the fans wan't to do is
tell their hero's that they loved them.Has Mick made any plans for
his funeral, and where can us fans pay our last respect. Kevin
from Glam Rock and the 70's. R.I.P. MICK TUCKER.

I only had one chance to meet Mick, last july at the Anglers. Mick
didnt show as he was not feeling up to it. I was obviously
disappointed, but Mick did show up on many other occassions showing
the trooper he was. RIP Mick. Great music lives on.

Re: re-mick tucker.
I felt devastated when I heard the news, told by one of my
colleagues at work yesterday morning. Although I knew Mick had
health problems it still came as a shock. Together the late Keith
Moon I've always considered him as the best drummer ever.
Unfortunately I've never had the opportunity to meet him of see him
play live - something I'll regret for the rest of my life. My
deepest thoughts go out to his family. May he rest in
peace.
P.S.: believe it or not, but there's a Flemish
TV-show, 'De rode loper', it's a show about the showbizz. They said
that Mick had died and showed a part of an ... AS SWEET GIG with a
close-up of ... BRUCE BISLAND! Still no respect for the Man with the
Golden Arm

Re: Mick Tucker

Something so hard goes straight to the soul; it seems
impossible to get over and my heart is left with a big
hole.
I'm trying to be happy, wearing a smile; but I'm
dying inside. The world seems to be fading, and I just want to
run and hide.
Everywhere I go I see your face, and realize
how much I miss you; and on the day you died a piece of me
died too.
But life goes on you know it ain't easy. And
you've just gotta be strong....
Thanks for everything,
Mick. Rest in Piece.

Re: Mick Tucker - Sad News
We go through life so often, not stopping to enjoy the day.
And we take each one for granted, As we travel on our way.
For in your pain and sorrow, An Angel's Kiss will help
you through, This kiss is very private, For it is meant for
only you.
We never stop to measure, Anything we just
might miss. But if the wind should blow by softly, You'll
feel an Angel's Kiss.
A kiss that is sent from heaven, A
kiss from up above. A kiss that is very special, From
someone that you love.
So when, your hearts are heavy,
And filled with tears and pain, And no one can console you,
Remember once again...
About the ones you grieve for,
Because you sadly miss. And the gentle breeze you took for
granted, Was just an Angel's Kiss.

Re: Mick Tucker - Sad News.
when i wrote my first comment on this sad thread i really was in a
state of shock. i mean, what can you write when you get such
terrible news?? ofcourse my thoughts and prayers goes to mick's
wife and his family. i have been a drummer for 29 years now and
all of these years mr. tucker always was my greatest source of
inspiration. i never met him personally, and though that is a pitty
for me, i'd rather have it that way as long as he could go on living
a healthy life with his family and close friends. i have this
hope to see you in heaven one day, mick.

Re: Mick Tucker
- Sad News.
Very sorry to hear this.....I was lucky to see Mick perform with
Andy in Seattle at a Halloween show in 1990. They rocked big time!!
I am 35 and started to listen to Sweet since I was about 12....so I
am very sad to hear about Mick. I hoped he would eventually be well
enough to perform on a regular basis again, but he left us with alot
of great drumming on the Sweet recordings!! My thaughts are with his
family and with the other surviving members of Sweet. God bless you
Mick!! May you rock in peace!!

Re: Mick Tucker - Sad News.
It's so hard to believe that the best isn't with us anymore, How
sad this must be for Andy & Steve - How very sad this must be
for Ayston. No impossible to replace a kind person as Mick. He will
be missed by all of us. My condolences to his family - firends and
ofcourse Andy & Steve. Mick was and always will be the greatest
drummer I ever knew. He was ( as for many) my teacher without him
knowing it. He was the one that started me to play drums some 32
years ago. ( gosh I'm getting old). Anyway. GOD BLESS MICK - GOD
BLESS SWEET - SWEET FOREVER!

Re: Mick Tucker
- Sad News.
Well after I heard the sad news I e-mailed our local station and
suggested they do a small tribute (they've played Fox and Ballroom
Blitz in the past and the music director emailed back that he would
see if they could do something) No luck that evening but they might
have mentioned it on air. Let's hope so.
It's a strange old
world sometimes. we all know that we're going to leave sometime but
it seems especially sad when people we know and love leave us at
what seems to us to be too soon. Hard to reconcile those 20 year old
kids all dressed up in glitter and bright clothing playing music
which all still love to this day with older and perhaps frailer
individuals. Most of us are now in our 40's and it's odd to lose our
musical "friends" at the age of 54. Seems they leave us too soon as
we're not ready to part with them.
Still the greatest tribute
to them is that the art they make has given so many people so much
pleasure over the years and continues to do so to this day. it's
been more than 30 years since "The Sweet" began and they're still
going strong in our everyday lives.
So in a way Mick lives on
and may he in the time allotted to him on earth have realised just
how much enjoyment he gave to so many people.
So here's to
Mick and thanks for all the good times!!

Mick
Tucker
Quite simply i'm stunned by this. Apart from the fact Mick was a
truely inspirational drummer, he came accross off stage as a genuine
guy who always would take time out to talk to fans, and treated
people with respect. He was approachable and did not appear to be
self important like so many other rock stars. Never thought he was
better than you despite his rock star status. A truely magical
drummer who had a unique style and whose drum fills were awesome. A
real special guy, who made a difference in my life....
My
thoughts are with his wife and daughter.
God Bless you
Mick

Re: Sad Day
I am new here at the forum. Please forgive me my mistakes in the
english language. So I'm a little bit late to say that I'm so
very very sad about Mick's death. He was an idol too. It is so sad
that another part of my teen years no longer exists. I didn't get
over Brian's death and now this again. Listening to their songs, i
must confess: there was only one real Sweet. Brian's voice, Andy's
guitarplaying, Steve's bass and the fabulous drumming from Mick.
That was Sweet. That band doesn't exist anymore, but the memories
are alive by hearing their songs. (the songs never sound the same by
other singers). Still I have an open mind. I really really like
As Sweet and I'll go to the concert in May in Eindhoven. I saw them
in Antwerp last december and they were great. Still love Andy like I
did in the early days. As long as Andy makes music I will be one of
his biggest fans too. Like Jeff Brown and the others too, but still:
there ain't no Brian and Mick anymore. Rest in peace you two. We
will never forget you.
