I arrived in Sydney mid afternoon and went straight to the promoters office for a meeting. When this was over I picked up the bands van and took it to my hotel. After dinner I spent the night reading the Sydney street directory working out the routes to the venues.
DAY 2: (01/09/04) Got to the airport at 6.00am to meet Andy, Bruce, Tony and Damian. I then took the boys to their motel and they checked in then went for breakfast. After this they returned to the motel for a kip. During the afternoon I took Andy, Tony and Damian to a meeting with the promoter. After this we returned to the city so that they could have a meal. Later in the evening I then returned to the airport to pick up Steve who came over on a later flight. After taking him to the motel and checking in we went to pub nearby to meet up with the others. CROWN LAGER! Say no more!
We left the motel mid afternoon and went to the Channel 9 studios for the appearance on the footy show. It turned out that due to a communication problem that we got there about 3 hours earlier than we had to. To fill in time the boys napped, chatted and we even went to the studio canteen for a meal. Most of the time however was just spent chatting in the dressing room. Here we got to see and talk to a lot of the Channel 9 "stars" including Ray Martin, Ken Sutcliffe, Hugh Rimmington and Andy Pascalidis etc. Later on we met and talked to three of the Olympic Gold Medalists. (Leisel Jones, Alice Mills and Grant Hacket). Finally the boys did the soundcheck at around 7.30pm and it rocked! So much so that they received a standing ovation from all the staff and technicians. The production staff asked for two further sound checks which both resulted in standing ovations and chants of "more, more, more!". Before long we got to meet the crew from the Footy show and Fatty (The shows host)spent a long time in our dressing. He was so rapt that the Sweet were here! The performance went over brilliantly. Afterwards we all got to meet Miss Universe which was another highlight of the night. With all the big names on the line up for the night, Sweet was clearly the most popular performer on the show. The boys were very pleased with the way things went and received heaps of praise from everyone there. After leaving channel 9 it was a quick trip back to the motel and then back to the local for another session of Crownies!
