The Yarraville Club, on September 18th 2004.
As a person who saw the original band at Festival Hall Melbourne in 1975 and then again saw Andy ,Mick with others during the mid eighties, it was with great excitement that my partner and I arrived at the Yarraville Club for the gig last Saturday night
The venue was quite good for the concert with a reasonable size and very enthusiastic crowd in attendance.
The Sweet hit the stage at 9.45pm following a half hour set by local band "Stand".
Following the Bond Music intro the familiar guitar riff for "Hellraiser " began and we were off.
1/ Hellraiser Band finished at about 11.20pm The guys were very pleased with the response from the crowd. I would have loved to have heard Lies In Your Eyes, Fever Of Love and Turn It Down but hey only so many classic to fit into a short time. Maybe next time. I hope they will come back soon and don't leave it so long. From Co-Co onwards, Andy would say things like "34 years ago this came out" which just reiterated how long the band have been around in. A nice touch was a tribute he paid to Brian and Mick saying that he is sure they are still keeping an eye on proceedings . He also said that one day he hoped to be able to work in some capacity with Steve again !!!!!!! A long que formed at the merchandise table following the show. The guys were only too pleased to sign anything we had. I was rapt that Andy signed my copy of "Platinum Rare" and "Andy Scott---Thirty Years On" as well as my new DVD "Blitz Glitz and Hitz" purchased on the evening. I watch this yesterday and it rocks !!!!!! What else can I say. To use a term from the 70s-------- IT WAS ACE Report from David Bean. |
