Brian Connolly's funeral on Monday February 17th 1997 - Denham, Bucks.
Today, Brian's funeral took place at the Catholic Church in Denham. The day was cold, windy and wet as mourners gathered at the church and waited outside in the wet. By the time Brian's family arrived, there must have been at least a couple of hundred waiting. Brian's family arrived with his black coffin, decked with reaths, and entered the church, followed by everyone else. Being only a small church, it soon became crowded with people spilling out of the pews around the inside of the church. A special memorial 'booklet' had been produced for the service giving details of Brian's life, his family, and tributes from many people. In attendance were a clearly very upset Steve Priest and Andy Scott, together with Nicky Chinn, Mike Chapman and Phil Wainman to name but a few. Various hymns and prayers were said then Steve said a few words, clearly distressed at the occassion. Nicky Chinn then read out a message from Mick Tucker, explaining his absence from the proceedings due to ill health, and then followed with Nicky's own personal reflections on Brian. It was a very well thought out and moving piece. On finishing, Steve shook Nicky's hands and they both sat back down.

The normal Catholic funeral service then took place, with, finally, Brian's coffin being carried out to one of his favourite Sweet tracks - The Sixteens. The service then moved to the local Crematoriam for it's completion.
