21.9.98:
During my visit 'over the waters' last week, I was fortunate to be able to call Steve Priest and talk about the B C Tribute. He was able to confirm to me that, (subject to arrangements with the organisers being made) he would be able to attend the forthcoming event in November. This is of course wonderful news! I believe he has also talked to Mick about his decision, though as yet, it is unclear whether Mick will come or not.

Mark Has written to Steve, Mick and Andy, and spoken to both Steve and Andy, who have both confirmed that they will be attending the Gig. He is currently waiting to hear from Mick on his decision. A.S.Sweet will also be playing at the Gig. In addition, Mark has written to several big names in the hope of persuading some to come along and perhaps perform lead vocals on some songs as well. More news on those later.

This is the standard letter being sent out to Sweet Fans enquiring for tickets...

Invitation Letter to Brian Connolly Tribute Gig

Dear Sweet Fan,

A memorial gig dedlcatad to Brian Connolly will be held at Camden Palace, London on

Sunday 11th October 1998 (this date was chosen as the nearest available weekend date

to his birthday, 5th October)- A Saturday date would have been preferred, but a venue

of The right quality and for all day and night could not be obtained. Camden Palace

holds over 1,000 people and is a top quality venue, which we feel Brian deserves.

A ticket application form will be forwarded to you at a later date, informing you

about who will be there on the day. Already booked are a Sweet tribute band (not B.C.'s

Sweet), and original guitarist Frank Torpey, who will be performing the last recording

made by Brian and himself , which will be available on CD to buy on the day. Andy

Scott' Sweet will be headlining, hopefully with some surprise celebrities! There will also

be vintage Sweet videos playing, a Sweet disco, raffles, quizzes and Sweet memorabilia

 stalls for you to enjoy.

We have informed Steve Priest and Mick Tucker about this day, and Steve has

confirmed that he will be coming. We are waiting to hear back from Mick, so by the

time ticket application forms are sent out we will know if he can make it or not.

One of the reasons for this Brian Connolly Memorial Gig is to provide money for

a plaque to be sited at the crematorium, enabling Sweet fans to visit and pay their

respects to a man whose music was loved all over the world, and who was a true

70's star. We have full authority for this event from Brian's daughters Nicola and

 Michelle, and Marilyn, Brian's ex-wife.
