Message: I heard a great live version of this song once (Love Is Like Oxygen), and I'm still looking for the album on which it could've appeared. It's definitely an official release because I heard the song on the radio, but it's not 'Live at the Marquee' which I already heard. Do you have any idea ?

  • Sun, 14 Apr 1996 - Russell Moran, AUSTRALIA - russellm@ozemail.com.au
Message: Congratulations on a great site...I've been a Sweet fan since I was 13 now going on 37. Its really good to see their are others like me who love the band. I was fortunate to see The Sweet in July 1974 at the Horden Pavilion in Sydney. I will never forget that night. I have also seen a couple of incarnations of Andy Scott Sweet here at local clubs...but it just wasnt the same. I am just looking around to try and order some CD'S from CDWORLD, ones that are not available here in AUS. Can you recommend any? I have nearly all vinyl albums...but only a couple of greatest hits CD'S... Also looking for any videos that may exist. Keep up the good work...

  • Tue, 16 Apr 1996 - Steve McGrath, AUSTRALIA - smcgrath@netspace.net.au
Message: I am a mad Sweet fan probably in the top 5 in Australia. Any assistance I can be please let me know. If you have a mailing list of any type please put me on it. My girlfriend will be in Europe from May 21 until early July. She wants to catch up with Andy's band + Steve Mann if possible. Are you able to find out where he'll be during that time. She'd also like to pick up any European releases bootlegs I may not already have. We believe Germany will be the best place for this. Any ideas? Good luck with the page. Eventually I hope to get a page going down here with links to yours + others as well as other Sweet info music tips ideas. Regards Steve.

Message: Great Page! I liked the Sweet from the Wig Wam bam times. I have most of the records and I have also seen both new Sweet live. I will go to an Oldie-Night on may 15th in Solingen, Germany where Andy Scotts Sweet are playing. I'm not sure if I can tell this here but in the first place I go to the concert to see Les McKeowns Bay City Rollers! I hope you can believe that I like the Sweet and also the Rollers. Maybe you want to have a look at my BCR-Web-Page? Its at http://users.aol.com.buesken/bcr/bcr.htm Thanks for listening and keep up the good work. Keep on rollin - Gerd.

  • Sat, 27 Apr 1996 - Mark Slinger, USA - mark_slinger@intouchgroup.com
Message: I have been a Sweet fan since 1972 when I was 12 years old. The first single I bought was Little Willy. I can remember being totally baffled by the B-Side Man From Mecca. However, later I would totally turn on to their brilliant metal sound. At school I was completely alone in liking this band. They're a bunch of queers. Now, years later everybody is into them. I never got to see the original line up. The tour was cancelled in 1974 and I saw Mud instead so I had to wait until 1980 when I saw Steve Andy + Mick at London Lyceum. I also saw Andy + Mick here in San Francisco at The I-Beam.

  • Sun, 28 Apr 1996 - Mike Belshaw, ? - email: ?
Message: It's great to see other SWEET fans around the world who are still into the band. I have been a fan since 1973 and I still go to see Brian's SWEET and Andy's SWEET at least once a year. At the moment I am collecting old cuttings and photo's to put together some kind of visual document of the band. If any fans could help, I would be grateful. It good to be "a piece of the action..".

  • Mon, 6th May 1996 - Paer Holmgren, SWEDEN? - Par.Holmgren@svt.se
Message: Hello! Congrats to all of you for very nice homepages! Do you think there's enough of Sweet fans around to create a newsgroup, would be nice to be updated and be able to discuss their old and current music! Some questions: (As always) there is rumours around about a reunion, this time including Brian, Mick and Steve, have you heard anything about this...? Do you know where I can find Steve's book? I'm also looking for the some of the old singles; Slow Motion and the 3 original Parlaphone issues. To swap I've got the reissue of All You'll Ever Get From Me and Paddy Goes To Holy Head's Green Green Grass of Home... Take care, Paer Holmgren

  • Thur, 9th May 1996 - Bill Murphy, USA - bmurphy@execpc.com
Message: Great Web Site! I just discovered it this morning and I'm very impressed. Question: Where can I get the Japanese CD Anthology that's supposedly a reissue of Strung Up? I loved the live album on Strung Up because it reminded me of when I saw them in 1976 in Michigan. Why hasn't Sweet Fanny Adams ever been reissued on CD...or has it been? Keep up the good work!

  • Sun, 12th May 1996 - Michael Taylor, USA? - mstaylor@west.net
Message: Wow! Finally a Sweet Home Page! I got into Sweet in the 70's because I really liked the drumming. I still play drums today after work at 39 and use some of Mick Tucker's licks - and people like them. Keep up the good work on the page. Thanks-Michael.

  • Wed, 15th May 1996 - Paul Hunsdon, ENGLAND - tcc@tcchq.demon.co.uk

Message: Ha! Now I find all this info on Sweet...after years of thumbing thru every mag in the US on ANY articles on the band. I have been a fan since Desolation Boulevard. Ballroom Blitz was like THE song that got me into being a musician, only like 4th grade or so but anyways...great to see some news even if the old Sweet is not together...BTW Action is still my all time fave tune!!

I'm overwhelmed by the fact that there really exists a Sweet-site on the web. For being a newbie, I would like to wait with giving any comment yet, but I really think it's great that I'm not the only one in whom SWEET lives on and on. They're my heroes!

  • Sun, 2nd June 1996 - Mike Belshaw, ENGLAND - User 7, Cafe Internet
Message: Hi Ya Sweet fans, Mike here from Liverpool. I'm really enjoying Home SWEET Home. It's getting better and better. Great Live photo's and Andy's Interviews were interesting. Has any one heard the new remix album 'Solid Gold Action'? It has some interesting SWEET remixes. Some work quite well although some could be shorter! After you have listened to it a few times you yearn to hear the superior originals! But nevertheless, an interesting CD. It was good to here news on Mick, although I'm not so sure about the hair. As I said before, I'm looking for cuttings on The Sweet, especially front pages from Germany, USA, Australia etc. I have lots from England. I've heard of a German mag called 'Bravo' so if anyone can help I'd be grateful. My address is: 95, Newsham Drive, Liverpool, England. L6 7UH. Anyway, all the best to everyone in the site! Mike.

  • Sun, 2nd June 1996 - David Powner, ENGLAND - Dave@sioux.demon.co.uk
Message: I just love this site..I've been a Sweet fan since way back in 1974. My first ever Sweet single was The Sixteens. Well yesterday I bought a CD entitled 'The Sweet Hellraisers Live Rare' on budget label Hallmark priced £2.99. The CD comprises of Demo tracks one or two live tracks which I think may have appeared somewhere else before...maybe on 'Live for Today' CD. I was wondering if maybe somebody out there could send me some info on the CD and origins of the tracks. I would like to hear from any Sweet fans.....THANKS.

  • Thu, 6 Jun 1996 - Roberto Ugalde-Villela, MEXICO - ugalde@mail.internet.com.mx
Message: What a fantastic page!!! Congratulations...and please keep it up! Hello from MEXICO. There are a lot of fans of THE SWEET in this country and we all appreciate what the band did for Rock music. I truly became a fan in 1977 when I heard "Off The Record", I was 12 at the time and since then music has become an inspiration in my life...and THE SWEET started it all for me!! The lyrics section is great, as well as everything else in your page (photographs, interviews, gral. info, etc.). I went to a SWEET concert in October 1990 with only Andy and Mick still as original members, still the gig was great and everybody loved them ("The Strand" in Redondo Beach, California). It was an unforgettable night for me because I spoke to both Mick and Andy. Mick is a cool guy and one of the best drummers of the 70's; unfortunately, he was also underrated, but he was one the first to play those slammin' double bass drum fills... he certainly has influenced a lot of people, just as the rest of the band has. I miss Brian Connolly's voice and I hope he's doing fine. Write to you soon. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE SWEET HOME PAGE!!!! "Hasta la vista"

  • Mon, 10 Jun 1996 - Heather May, USA - CAK1@AHS.Aberdeen.K12.ms.us
Message: Oh yeah! It's about time someone created a website for the most incredible band of all time!!!!! I have been a die-hard sweet fan since I was 5 years old (I'm 27 now) and through out the years they have remained my favourite band. Sweet is probably the most underrated band ever and it is a shame because they are all so talented. I have never heard a group that was more diverse. it is really nice to see that they are still adored by so many people. I love them dearly and couldn't imagine a day going by without listening to at least one of their albums. Unfortunately they broke up before I was old enough to see them in concert and when I found out about Brian's illness I almost gave up on my dream of ever getting to see them play live. I would give anything to see Brian, Andy, Steve, and Mick back together again but at least I'll get to see two of the members perform. I have several questions for you. I can't seem to get Brian's correct birthdate....1945 or 1949? What exactly is the muscular disease that he suffers from? why do Andy and Brian not get along? Any help with these questions will be greatly appreciated. I am looking for photos (both old and recent), merchandise, memorabilia, general information, and videos (especially of Brian but interested in everything) so if you or anyone could help please let me know. I am also interested in Brian's solo stuff from 1980 and any Wainwright's Gentlemen recordings that might exist.
About what Gloria Griffin said about 'Little Willy':....... I think she is certainly entitled to her opinion and I respect and understand her for it but if you really think about it there are a lot of silly, stupid songs out there that make tons of money..... and whoever said that all music has to be equal in stature to the genius of 'Love Is Like Oxygen'. 'Level Headed' is definately one of the best albums ever because it showed us that Sweet had progressed beyond their earlier teenybopper image but when they recorded 'Little Willy', that was the sound they were aiming for. So it was good for what it was and kids today still love it. Here's an idea....wouldn't it be great to chat online with the guy's??? Then we could all give our opinions directly to them and ask them how they feel about it. Thanks for all the great info and keep up the incredible work. I hope your sweet pages are here to stay!!!!! HELLRAISER HEATHER

  • Wed, 19 Jun 1996 - Colin Watson, ENGLAND - cwa1@wpo.epsrc.ac.uk
Message: Stewart, Have just accessed SWEET's web pages and congratulations are the order of the day. Have just been put on the web at work and the first thing i had to do was check out the site. Unfortunately I was'nt able to leave my details in the visitors area, as much as I'd like to, I dont have the mailing available via the web, hence the E-mail.
I have been mad on Sweet for over 20 years now and the music still sounds as good today as ever, I have a good collection of sweet goodies and am just about to purchase 'Slow Motion' at last!. I must admit unlike most fans, SWEET to me will always be Steve, Brian, Mick, Andy. Although I follow the 2 versions of New Sweet, to me they are almost like cover-bands that I cant take too seriously. I know people will disagree with that but the original Four were THE SWEET. I notice on the web pages there was some discussion about the new CD 'Solid Gold Action', well I also purchased this and think it is brilliant, all right its not Sweet as we know them but what a refreshing change. I particulally like Lost Angels and Sweet FA, the latter I think should be released as a single. I agree with the cover notes that it should be played as loud as possible for the best effect, try your walkman in the garden, excellent. I just hope this guy that mixed the CD brings out a Solid Gold Action Pt 2, would love to hear what he can do to' Windy City'.
Well Stuart thats all for now, I am at work so better do some. Its a pity I cant leave messages on the web site as I could contact other fans, but maybe one day. Keep up the good work, you are doing a brilliant job

  • Sun, 22 Jun 1996 - Jeroen Loppersum, NETHERLANDS - lopper@bart.nl
Message: I'd like information on how to get CD's and Albums with rare material demo's from the original Sweet - Brian, Steve, Andy, and Mick. I would also like to buy the very first album/singles of Sweet, the period before Funny Funny, How Sweet Co-co Can Be.

  • Sun, 23 Jun 1996 - Roberto Ugalde-Villela, MEXICO - ugalde@mail.internet.com.mx
Message: Thank you for this super site on my favorite band. Here in Mexico I once saw a music magazine (about 17 years ago, though) that indicated all of the bands that had opened for THE SWEET. I remember seeing Queen opening for Sweet and many other surprising bands. Would it be possible for you to obtain this information? Additionally, is it true that they had a fight onstage with the Bob Seger Band? If true, I hope the lads beat the Sheize out of the Silver Bullet!!! Gracias. Write again soon!!!!

  • Fri, 28 Jun 1996 - Arthur W Carawan, USA - wolfsram@coastalnet.com
Message: Killer cool site. Even besides the fact that its about one of the greatest rock bands I think it is cool for the technical aspects...frames, easy to navigate and if I want to refer to previous msgs I don't have to leave the window. All hail the king of da site...I have read some items about the bubblegum Sweet vs. the progressive Sweet. I cut my teeth on 'Give Us A Wink', Yesterdays Rain rocks and I personally loved the progressive side. 'Level Headed' is so good I ordered a 32 dollar import just to have it on CD from Germany - worth it...3 bonus trax. Fountain is absolutely brilliant. Oxygen speaks for itself and Air on A Loop still sends chills up my spine.
However, my fellow southerner Gloria is correct when this was released they wanted to distance themselves from their 'Chinnichap' bubble gum days. God only knows how they would feel about performing that stuff now. But here's the kicker, after getting into the prog period I grew to like the 'Chinnichap' stuff as well! I am a radio DJ by trade and I still get mucho requests for Ballroom Blitz and yes I even like Little Willy, kinda risque for its time don't ya think. The very fact that they were able to make such a transition in such a successful fashion indicates what kind of band they were. Few people even in my profession realize that Love Is Like Oxygen was a top ten hit in the US in '78.
Final note: I know the band is splintered into factions and that's a damn shame. To see the orig lineup tour again or better RECORD again would be just too awesome. Sweet fans e-mail me. Long live THE SWEET!!
