Oh no, they’re back…
SCFO goes to Devizes
And to
Angler’s Retreat again, the day after...
The two founding members of this
expanding band saw the writing on the
wall and
figured they had to go with the flow
and show themselves in Devizes on a nice Saturday
in the middle of April.

Once they were there they found that many others had the
same idea. Among others
to be seen there was Andy Scott, Steve
Grant & Elliot Tuffin (who got the honour of
making a guest appearance in Andy Scott’s
& Steve Grant’s acoustic set). There
were also a bunch of others there; Johnny
“The Smile” Mogs (ask him how many cds
he won in a Steve Priest-competition some
years back...); Stephen “Woody” Woods
(with Hat on his head, and Cap on Hat –
also having had the offer of being the new
drummer in SCFO) & John “VC 10”
(showing how good he can actually be as a
background singer, also refusing to
acknowledge any resemblance to Swedish
pop singer Carola...).

One of the members in the band went
ahead and won the very first ex. of the cd
Sweetlife, by the band Sweetlife, in
a raffle that collected money for a fund in
memoriam of Mick Tucker. The other
one had to explain to a bedazzled Mr Scott
that SCFO have
no intention of stealing the audience from his band. A dirty job
but someone had to do it...

Buddies! The honourable “Chairman of the board”
Stewart Roney and
Sweet-connoisseur Elliot T
were bonding when the hour was getting
late, and the bar was getting
crowded, at The Black Swan in Devizes.
THE
VERY NEXT DAY: ANGLER’S RETREAT...

Andy-fan Elisabeth “Lady Starlight”; Steve B
(now a happy owner of a Mick Tucker-jacket) &
American David “Herbie Poo” (entrusted
cameraman at Devizes) were watching some Action
on the stage at Angler’s Retreat. Also
together with some other inmates: BC Sweet champion
in his own right, Marc
“Axeman” Pearson; Henrik “Townshend’s my best friend...” Rademacher
& Cheryl “I AM THE MANAGER!” Stapleton.
And what was going on on stage...?

Elliot T once again rocked
The Retreat. With a new band, his Joe Cocker/Andrew Strong/
Elvis Presley-like voice, and lots of guest
appearances the set varied with lots of Sweet
classics in it too. Marc/Axey came up and
displayed his skills in the Steve
Priest-sound
alike version of “Blockbuster”; with the twirl
of his finger he hit the vocals with uncanny precision.
SCFO, although present, did not appear
that night. They felt they had to give it a rest, and keep
concentrating on the rehearsals for the “Only
for U, Live in ´02”-tour, which, despite rumours of
cancellation, is planned to take off later this
year...
“WE WON’T TURN OUR BACKS AT
OUR FANS....”

Till
Then: ROCK
OFF!
